Options for an Enjoyable Dental Experience
Every member of Dr. Hernandez's team is dedicated to maintaining your oral health and comfort. We'll do everything we can to make your visit pleasant and help you overcome any apprehension. We recognize that most patients don't like coming to the dentist, so we try and make the experience a bit more like a visit to someone's home. There are a number of ways that we handle patients with fear and high levels of anxiety.
- Comfortable Injections: The injection is the most feared procedure in the dental office. Fortunately, Dr. Hernandez has developed a way of providing this needed procedure while making sure that it is acceptable and virtually pain free. We always apply a liberal amount of anesthetic gel to make the needle undetectable. Sometimes, Dr. Hernandez will even freeze the area to be injected so the needle is never felt.
- Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas): Sometimes all we need is a little extra help to achieve our objectives. Laughing gas helps many people overcome their apprehensions, especially while receiving an injection. We understand that each person responds differently to dental procedures and that we all have different levels of anxiety. This understanding helps us to reassure you and control your level of anxiety.
- Oral Medication: Also called sedation dentistry, this method has been used in the dental field for many years, though it's only recently been disseminated to the public. Using certain medications, we can achieve a state of deep relaxation that only general anesthesia can rival. Many patients even fall asleep on their own accord. The major benefit of sedation dentistry is that it is safer than general anesthesia and the effects wear off quicker. Patients will always be monitored and administered oxygen throughout the procedure.
- Infection Control: We uphold only the highest, strictest methods of sterilization and sanitation for all our equipment, instruments, and facility. Keep in mind that we treat our family members in the same facility using the same instruments. In essence, all the patients are treated as we treat our own family. So, welcome to our family!
