New Patients The patient is considered the ultimate goal in our quality practice. An attainable goal only through the comprehensive examination process. The patient deserves a thorough and complete examination. Anything less than that is incomplete and not thorough. We follow the Dawson principles of occlusion and the total masticatory system. These dental principles benefit the patients in obtaining the truth and entire status of their oral health. These are unbiased and not driven by insurance, past dentistry or the ability to pay.

The new patient is greeted by our staff and given a series of questionnaires needed for the diagnostic process. Once that is accomplished, the patient is taken to a dental room and the examination process begins. The patient's teeth will be examined one by one and area by area. The soft tissue and the gingiva (gums) will also be thoroughly evaluated. Patients sometimes have certain ailments and seen to just accept them as part of life. Headaches, neck stiffness, irritability, and unusual tiredness can sometimes be attributed to the bite and the TMJ's.

We take double impressions of the oral cavity (mouth) in order to evaluate the bite and determine it's stability or in instability. Records of jaw positions and anatomic landmarks will allow us to transfer these models to our diagnostic tools. The patient will have an opportunity to see for themselves the relationships currently in their mouth and all the conditions associated with their oral health status. Photos may be used for digital cosmetic imaging where appropriate.
